C'est la vie

I have once again decided to give away the Young Mums of Brisbane page. I am just so busy with my life and I feel I can no longer give it my all.
I had made this decision this morning after having a good think about it and then when I logged on to the computer I was shocked to read about a mummy friend Courtney being admitted to hospital with life threatening clots.
The world seems like such a cruel place sometimes.
After baby Cloe's death I have stopped to re-evaluate my life. My babies are my number one priority so after the auction for Chloe, I will still pop on every now and again to say hello but I will be handing the page over to the lovely Admin (and new page owner) Rebecca.
I'm so fortunate that my beautiful babes are crazy and taking up all my time. My life is here at home as a mummy so I am going to give more of me =P

Chloe Mckenzie.

It is with a saddened heart and many a tear shed that I inform that beautiful baby Chloe this morning lost her battle with Leukodystrophy.
Our thoughts are with the Mckenzie family at this very unfortunate time. R.i.p beautiful angel

Good Morning Young Mums Of Brisbane,
I hope you all had fabulous weekend filled with Love and Laughter!

I have been thinking about out Young Mummies Page over the weekend and wondering where to go from here.

Currently I am assessing whether to continue on with creating playdays as they haven't been getting much of a turn out. A lot of mum's have great intentions to head along but in the end only 2-3 people are going.

Just recently I did a shout out looking for some mums that may be interested in being a featured blogger on this page and I am excited that we have a very lovely lady that is thinking about doing this. If you feel you would like to contribute please get in contact with me.

Quite often on the YMOB page mummies pop on looking for like minded mums in their area,
We have a happy snaps tab and I was thinking if you would like to send in a photo of yourself and your little one(s) that would be fantastic I could  then link up your photo with some info about you and then when people click on your picture they would be sent to your email address or fb page to get in contact with if you are wanting to make new friends :)

Admins: I'm going to create a tab for Admins to Introduce themselves, that way on the day they are posting you know exactly whom your talking to.

I'm going to change our adverting in March more details will be released at the start of March so your all in the loop.

Lastly  I would LOVE to know what YOU would like to see on the Young Mums Of Brisbane Page so please if you have any Ideas or opinions let me know.

Have a fantastic weekend Young Mums Of Brisbane!

Branching out on the Young Mum Tree.

A few of you may have noticed I've created a Young Mums Of The Gold Coast.
We have quite a few mummies on the Brisbane page that are Gold Coast Based and I think it would be a great oppotunity for fellow young mums of the gold coast to make connect with new friends for support.
Young Mums Of Brisbane is a wonderful page and has 10101 'likers' now! So I would love to see this kind of following for the new Gold Coast page.
The page may be a little quiet to start as there are only so far 5 mummies on the page but once this grows I can see it bustling with mummies and hopefully mummy meet ups!
If any mummies are interested in helping me admin the page feel free to contact me.

Chloe McKenzie Auction

I am very proud to be apart of organizing an auction for the special McKenzie family-
Chloe McKenzie Auction on Facebook (date to be confirmed). Myself and Karen Johnson we're so touched buy the tragic story and it hit quite close to home with us both having babies only a month older then little Chloe.
After reading their story I was so heart broken and couldn't stop hugging my beautiful healthy babies. We truly are blessed to have healthy babies I and couldn't imagine how hard life must be for the McKenzies not knowing if each day was to be their daughters last.
Late last year Chloe was diagnosed Leukodystrophy (white matter on the brain), she has been sent home with hospital equipment and requires a lot of medical support as Leukodystrophy is almost incurable. Chloe requires help from Physicians, Nurses, Physios, OT's, nutritionists, educators and many more.
When Chloe was born her parents Chris & Sharni and big brother Lachlan did not know she was born with this little know disease and every day that goes by is as important to this family as the last. We have been lucky enough to be in contact with some truly wonderful and talented local businesses and it's their generosity that has allowed us to run this auction and raise some much needed funds towards Chloe's treatment.
Please take your time to go through our auction pieces including handmade baby clothes, headbands, vouchers!! We would like to thank the businesses who contributed to this cause as we couldn't of done it without you.

Here's to a great auction for a great cause.
There is also a Family Fun Day that has been set up more details of the day can be found on the FB page "Chloe McKenzie" Family Fun Day

*If you are a business wanting to contribute please fell free to contact me. I will be offering a free small advertisement on the Young Mum's Of Brisbane Blog to say thanks.

Play Days-Play Days-Play Days!

So many Young Mums Of Brisbane want to connect and meet other young mummies and their little ones. This week had been a great week for creating play days. Today we have our first event at Lollipops Playground (Indoor playcenter) Springfield. This is a personal favorite place of Mine as Miss S has a ball every time we go.

On Monday we have a Beenleigh play day at Duck Park Beenleigh. At this stage we haven't had anyone else RSVP so if you are in the Beenleigh area check it out! Perfect park weather and your kiddies will have a n awesome time playing while you have a Young Mum Catch Up.

On Tuesday our South side mummies are invited to head along to the Play day at Broadwater Park Mansfield/Mount Gravatt. Megan will have balloons attached to her pram so you won't miss her. Parks are great for play days it doesn't coast a cent and nothing beats getting out into the fresh air on a warm Brissy day.

Wednesday is a Play Day at Roma Street Park Lands. This is a great central area for a Play Day and is easily accessed by public transport. Young Mums will be Meeting at the kids play equipment which is closest to the Gregory Terrace entrance.

Also On Wednesday we have our Northside Play day at Tiddlywinks Nundah and I have the following Quote from you Fellow Young Mum Kiri
"Am sad I am soon returning to work and not able to attend anymore playdate :( but just wanted to say anyone has never been to TiddlyWinks - GO - it is amazing - a mixture of 'playcentre' and indoor toddler disco - plus its family owned so nice to know you are helping out a small business"
So northside mummies GO!

All of these events can be found on the Young Mum's Of Brisbane Page under the EVENTS Tab.
I lookforwrd to hearing from all of you letting us know how you found the catch up!
If we don't have a play day in your area yet and you would be interested in having one please contact us Via the Contact Us Tab.

I hope you have a wonderful time meeting other Young Mum's Of Brisbane.
Young by number or simply Young at Heart!

The Who What When Where.

Hi, Let me tell you a little about me!
My Name is Renee and I am the Creator of the Young Mums Of Brisbane FB page.
I am 26years old married to my awesome hubby Kev and together we have our two Crazy and Cute kids, Miss S (2) and Master B (7months).
Kev and I met at the pub of all places when was 21. I was going through a messy break up and my life was an absolute shambles. I had lost all direction.....Until that day!
After 2 weeks of spending just about every waking hour together I officially moved in. 6 Months later we were engaged.
2 Years later on the 22nd of April 09 we got married. It was the most fun day shared with  family and friends, it was filled with lots of Laughter and Love.
Almost exactly one month later we fell pregnant.
Being married and have babies was thing I ALWAYS wanted. I did however get quite a familiar response mixed in with those of joy. Quite often people would say to me "don't get married yet your still young." or "Why do yo want a baby your so young?".
Yes I was young but I had found the one I wanted to be with the rest of my life and together we wanted to start a family. NO I didn't want to travel and NO I didn't care that I wouldn't be able to go out anymore.
On the 10th Of Feb 2010 we welcomed into the world our daughter Skye.
I am going to be brutally honest now and admit that I didn't fall in love at first sight. I'd had a horrible 38 hr Labor which ended in me having a Cesarian losing 2 liters of blood on the operating table and vomiting constantly.
Skye and Kev were taken into another room and it was 2 hours before I was able to hold our daughter for the first time.
She was weird looking and cried non stop. I didn't know what to do and the nurses weren't much help. I'd gone through something I felt was so traumatic and then been handed a crying baby who had a cone head and cried and cried and cried where was the emergency exit??
Life didn't get much easier at home. I needed support but didn't want to ask for help as I felt I was failing as a mother. After a couple of months and lots of tears I ended up going to the doctors and getting anti-depressants.
When I got home with the medication I took 1 tablet and felt sick and spaced out. This for me was the kick in the butt I needed to make me see that things really weren't that bad and that I needed to step back and relax.  My doctor had suggest going to play groups and I went to 2 which just weren't for me. The first I went to I was the youngest with the youngest baby the women were already quite cliquey and I felt out of place the only thing I had in common was that I was a mum but unfortunately that wasn't enough. The second I tagged along with a friend we'd met at birthing classes and It was at a church. I should have know it wasn't going to work for me as I am in no way religious but I really wanted to give it a go. At the end I left never to return.
This is when I created Young mums of Brisbane to connect with other young mums in the area.
I remember when the page got to it's first 100 likers I was SO excited I was able to jump in the page and ask other mothers for advice, now at last look the page is standing at 1,059 Likers!
There are so many other wonderful mums out there that are young and want to connect with people they can feel comfortable with. I have been lucky enough to meet a few of our mummies and they are the most down to earth people, I found we had more in common and they just want to meet other mums like them.
Since starting the page Kev and I have welcomed our second baby into the world and now our life feels complete. We no longer live in Brisbane but half hour west in the small town of Fernvale. I still LOVE the young mum's of Brisbane page though and I love welcoming all of our new likers!
I hope that this year we can really get some playdates up and running so us and our kiddies can make some new friends. Hopefully new friends for life!
